Work, Christmas and Family

21 12 2009

I have had a lack of music in my life over the last 5 days, work has been hectic and then the weekend was spent with family having an early Christmas as we are all celebrating in our nuclear families this year.

Christmas is a time of giving a time for spending quality time with loved ones but also for new music. Generally Christmas every year has been my catch-up time on all the albums I had missed earlier on in a particular year. 2009 will be different as I simply do not have the money but I am sure I will start a list of the things I have missed.

My musical highlights of the last 5 days:

  • The Mars Volta – Bedlam in Goliath (in the car, have not given this album much love and still need to get to grips with it, certainly a grower.)
  • Queens of the Stone Age – Rated R (Definitely in my top 20 albums of the noughties, brilliant guitar rock that is perfect for driving, do not listen to this album enough)
  • The Streets – Original Pirate Material (One of the best new lyricists of the decade in my opinion, this debut was awesome and to date the best Streets album by far. Standout track, The Irony of it All)

Will have to see what tomorrow brings but I am having a few days off so hope I can delve into a few albums that have not been dusted off in a while. If not then Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
